PISTOL RANGE AND CAMPGROUNDS
The Santa Clara County Peace Officers' Association (S.C.C.P.O.A.) welcomes you to our property and invites you to enjoy yourself amongst the 171 acres. You will be in the wilderness and the wildlife includes birds, deer, chipmunks, rabbits, raccoons, squirrels and an occasional rattle snake. Bobcat sightings and sightings of mountain lion tracks in the dirt occur but are rare.
Our property consists of two primary attractions, the campground and the pistol range. The campground has 9 tent cabins (12'x16'), numerous picnic tables, barbecues, 2 children play areas, horse shoe pits, a volleyball court, a large brick barbecue for group usage, and male and female restrooms (with hot and cold running water, flush toilets, and showers). There is also a large circular cement fire pit surrounded by seating for your enjoyment. No fires are permitted except for the fire pit and the barbecues. Make sure your fire is out before leaving it unattended, and honor any local fire warning(s). The water in the park is filtered and chlorinated but not potable so bring water for drinking and cooking. Large groups need to bring additional bathroom supplies (soap, toilet paper, and paper towels). Please clean up after yourself. Located within the campground are two wooden structures. The smaller of the two structures serves as an on-site office for the S.C.C.P.O.A., and the larger structure is a barn/tool shed with a fenced in equipment yard. Both of these structures are off-limits. No firearms or weapons may be discharged in the campground area, and paint ball guns are prohibited from the property. The pistol range (handguns only-no carbines, rifles, etc.) is located approximately one mile past/above the campground. There are eight paved shooting lanes with stations at 7 1/2, 15, 25, and 50 yards. Please follow the posted range use/safety rules. Members of the S.C.C.P.O.A. with their immediate family and up to 2 guests may use the pistol range, but the host member must be present at the range at all times when in use by his/her group. Any department/agency using the pistol range may be charged non-refundable range maintenance/use fee (typically $100-$200 per day). Scheduled groups, even with a reservation, will relinquish a lane for a member of the S.C.C.P.O.A. should a member show up to use the range. Member(s) that show up to use the pistol range, while a scheduled group is present, will follow the safety directions of the group Range Master and will shoot from the same line of fire. All targets, without exception, will be placed in the dirt in front of the 7 1/2 yard station or placed on the target stand(s) provided. The 25 yard station barricades are not targets and are not to be used for posting targets. The pistol range is the only location within property where a firearm can be discharged. BB guns, pellet guns and sling shots shall be fired only at the pistol range and paint ball guns are strictly prohibited anywhere on the property. Reservations for use of the pistol range are made on a first come-first serve basis and a limit may be placed on the number of times any given agency/department/group can reserve the pistol range during a year. Reservations may be secured at any time by submitting a deposit according to the attached schedule. Please adhere to all use/safety rules at all and think of the consequences of your actions because contrary to popular belief, from time to time both the pistol range and the campgrounds suffer from what can only be called "willful negligence." The second Saturday of each month is our WORK PARTY DAY. General use of the park is not recommended and the campground and range are closed. Feel free to come up and lend a hand with maintenance and improvements.
Member / Tent cabin policy: Each member is allowed to reserve 2 tent cabins at no charge on a space available basis. BBQ area and range reservations are handled separately. Additional tent cabins can be reserved but will require a Donation per the guidelines listed below: 9 to 12 additional family members /guests = 3 tent cabins will result in a $30 per day/night use fee 13 to 16 additional family members /guests= 4 tent cabins will result in a $60 per day/night use fee Family groups /events above 16 people will be assessed a nominal fee of $100. depending on the nature of the event, subject to board approval.
